The Forest History Association of British Columbia (FHABC) is a non-profit association aiming to collect, preserve, catalogue, and conserve the history of the forests of British Columbia. Formed on March 29, 1982 in Vancouver, the association’s interests cover a wide spectrum – from the history of people and machines to the evolution of forest resource management and the associated social and political aspects. The association publishes a newsletter containing articles, biographies, lists of new literature, book reviews, notices of meetings, and requests for information from researchers. Though originally based in Vancouver, the association is now run from Ladysmith, BC.

Jamieson, Marion-Lea

Marion-Lea Jamieson is a BC artist who creates paintings, drawings, illustrations, sculptures, and murals. Originally from Vancouver, she graduated from the Vancouver School of Art in 1974, where she specialized in printmaking, 3D design, and fabrication. After art school, she performed & choreographed dance works, then produced illustrations for editorial, publishing, and advertising. She completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 1988, then a Master of Arts at UBC in 1990. She returned to creating fine art in 1998, creating public artworks in steel & concrete for fifteen years, then painted large works in oils for a subsequent fifteen years. Her public artworks include: "Running Man", painted steel and cast resin sculpture (commissioned for the City of Kelowna, BC in 2000); "Not Cast in Stone", a concrete sculpture (commissioned by the City of Zhengzhou, China in 2006); "Sister Fish", a painted steel sculpture (commissioned by the City of Amneville-les-Thermes, Lorraine, France in 2007); "Memory Banks", a concrete sculpture created with the participation of the local community (commissioned by the City of Surrey, BC in 2007); "Sine Wave", a cast and hand-formed concrete sculpture (installed in Victoria, BC in 2010); "Anima II", powder-coated steel (commissioned by the City of Bremerton, WA in 2010); and "Whispering Bird", steel with rust patina (purchased by City of Fife, WA in 2012). Jamieson's work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and sold to public and private collections in Canada, the US, France, and China. She has participated in the following gallery symposiums: "SymposiumAtrium" in 2007 in Amneville-les-Thermes, Lorraine, France (one of 15 international commissioned artists); "Renaissance and Rising" in 2006 in Zhengzhou, Henan, China (one of 28 international commissioned artists); and "Okanagan-Thomson International Sculpture Symposium" in 2002 in Kelowna, BC (one of twenty international commissioned artists). She has held solo and group exhibitions in Vancouver, Squamish, Coquitlam, Langley, Burnaby, North Vancouver, Parksville, Gibsons, Vernon, Silverton, Mission, Bowen Island, Friday Harbour, Chilliwack, White Rock, San Juan Island, Lake Oswego, Beijing, Port Angeles, Bellingham, Blaine, Zhengzhou, and Ube, Japan. She has recently left Vancouver to live and work in Qualicum Beach, BC, on Vancouver Island.

Orrin Johnson moved to Alta Lake from Vancouver with his family in 1969 and lived in Emerald Estates. He was born in 1967 to parents Charles "Bud" and Adella Johnson. He had three siblings: David, Cathy, and Karen. The children all attended school in Pemberton. The family were avid skiers and belonged to the Whistler Mountain Ski Club. They left Whistler for Vancouver in 1974.
