Moira and her sister Pat used to come up to Rainbow Lodge in the 1940s and '50s and possibly the late '30s, spending their summers riding and canoeing. She met her husband to be through Pat Prowd, who also regularly visited Rainbow Lodge and was a distant cousin of Jim. Jim McCarthy and Moira Wallace became engaged at Rainbow Lodge on Dec 31, 1951.

Jim. originally from Winnipeg, returned to Vancouver after being in prison camp at Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong 25 Dec. 1941 until the end of World War II. He was a member of the Winnipeg Grenadiers. When he returned to Vancouver he met Moira Wallace through his distant cousins, Pat and Barry Prowd. Jim McCarthy and Moira Wallace became engaged at Rainbow Lodge on Dec 31, 1951.

Frans Carpay was an alderman with the Resort Municipality of Whistler. Originally from the Netherlands, he moved to Whistler and worked as a carpenter and builder there in the 1970s. He was elected as alderman to the second RMOW Council in 1977, serving for one term, until 1978. He later moved to Savary Island, BC. His wife is Elizabeth Carpay, with whom he has a daughter named Jillian Carpay.
