Shelley Adams was a caterer for Royal Appetites that drove up and down Highway 99 between Vancouver and Whistler for work. She lived in Whistler until she was 28, during which time she met her husband, a Whistler Mountain Ski School instructor. He became manager of Whitewater Resort, just outside of Nelson, BC, and Shelley followed him there to take the helm of the Fresh Tracks Cafe, a restaurant in Whitewater's ski lodge. Shelley Adams is best known as the author of a series of cookbooks. She put together 70 recipes from the Fresh Tracks Cafe into her debut cookbook, "Whitewater Cooks". Since then, she has released three subsequent cookbooks from the resort kitchen. All four books have been national bestsellers.

Sue Adams grew up in Australia, but moved to Canada, finding work in occupational therapy. She met her Canadian husband, Bob Adams, in 1967. The couple lived in Vancouver, visiting Whistler on weekends until they conspired to make Whistler their full-time home. Sue managed several restaurants in the Lower Mainland and had experience with catering. They purchased The Grocery Store in Whistler Village in 1988 and ran it for 27 years before selling it to long-time employee, Mike Groot. The couple also opened the Upper Village Market, Pemberton Valley Supermarket, and Delish Cafe and Catering in Function Junction. Sue has served on the boards of the Maurice Young Millennium Place, Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival, The Playhouse Theatre and North Shore Credit Union as well as serving on the Premier's Small Business Round Table, the Whistler Summer Theatre Project, the Steering Committee for arts and culture in Whistler, and others. She's been honoured with the Business in Vancouver Influential Women in Business Award, Whistler Business and Arts Award, Business Person of the Year — along with her husband, Bob — and Whistler Citizen of the Year.

Jim Addie married his wife, Ivy Addie, in 1945 and settled in North Vancouver, which they called home for over 60 years. The couple was involved in mountaineering circles in the 1950s and 1960s. They had three children: Cathy, Pat, and John. Jim passed away in 1997.
