Mike Jakobsson was a heli-ski and ATV guide, who started and owned companies, Tyax Heli-Skiing and ATV Adventures in Whistler. Jakobsson was born on June 10, 1949 in Vancouver, BC to Bengt and Christina Jakobsson. The family later moved to Nakusp, BC. In the 1970s, Jakobsson moved to Whistler, where he started an electrical contracting business. He then started his next ventures in heli-skiing and ATVing, as well as became a founding member of the Whistler Canoe Club. Jakobsson was a competitor in Dragon Boat and Outrigger races around the world. After sailing around the world, Jakobsson settled on a ranch in the Cariboo. He passed away on March 17, 2021.
