History
Originally from Norway, Dag Aabye was known in Whistler and the skiing world as one of the pioneers of extreme skiing in North America, earning his reputation dropping cliffs and bombing chutes in Whistler and also as a stunt skier for high-speed chases in James Bond movies. In 1969, Dag Aabye skied a 70-degree B.C. face, triggering an avalanche and breaking his ribs riding it through the trees on the way down (and he still showed up to teach skiing that afternoon!). Dag Aabye currently lives in a bus outside of Silver Star, B.C., where he still competes in speed-skiing events.
