Letters of Support from Fans

Two letters of support sent to Ross Rebagliati during his marijuana/gold medal controversy at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics in Japan and a letter of support written on a beer case label sent before he competed at the Games. Ross Rebagliati won the first ever gold medal for snowboarding in an Olympic Games. One letter is was kept in a large yellow envelope which had a newspaper photograph of Ross Rebagliati taped to it.

Materials collected by Ross Rebagliati relating to his career as a professional snowboarder and during his time competing for Team Canada in the Winter Olympic Games at Nagano, Japan in 1998, where he was the first person to win an Olympic gold medal in the discipline of snowboarding. Included is a scrapbook of his achievements and magazine features. Also included are fan letters expressing support for him during the post-Olympics controversy over marijuana which resulted in his gold medal being stripped and then re-awarded.

Ross Rebagliati Gold Medal Welcome Home Party

Photographs taken by the RMOW during their event to welcome home snowboarding gold medalist Ross Rebagliati from the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympic Games in Japan. Photographs show Ross signing autographs, shaking hands, showing his gold medal, and being interviewed on as stage among a large audience in Village Square. There are also photographs of a band playing on the stage.

Ross Rebagliati Snowboarding Career Scrapbook - 1994

Scrapbook of Ross Rebagliati's snowboarding career up until 1994. The front cover shows a photograph of Ross racing with the title "Ross Rebagliati - World Cup Snowboarding Competitor" and listing his 1994 qualifications in Snowboard Slalom. The first few leaflet inserts are copies of Ross featured in a Japanese snowboarding magazine. The scrapbook contains all of his magazine features and covers, as well as copies of results from his snowboarding races. At the end of the scrapbook, inserts of Whistler Question and Vancouver Sun newspapers with news relating to Ross on the front page can be found.
